GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF
Why it matters
Analysis: Shared interface and test practices could make supplier qualification and multisourcing easier for AI-network optics; cost and interoperability gains will depend on implementation and adoption.
On October 20, the Advanced Photonics Coalition released a portfolio of specifications and recommended practices developed with contributions from 60 member organizations. The documents cover co-packaged optics, silicon-photonics manufacturing and test, multicore fiber interfaces, and system implementation. They are intended to reduce avoidable manufacturing variation, not to certify any particular product.
