Advantech Introduces UniCAM Architecture for Multi-Vendor GMSL2 Cameras
Advantech introduced UniCAM on Nov. 6 as a camera-integration architecture for robotics and machine vision. It is built around Analog Devices' GMSL2 links and is intended to let supported cameras from different vendors share configuration, hardware synchronization and ROS 2 integration while retaining their own SDKs. This is an announced architecture and ecosystem; cross-vendor compatibility must be checked against the specific camera, deserializer and host platform.
GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF
Why it matters
Analysis: A common integration layer could reduce repeated driver work in multi-camera systems, but the engineering decision still depends on measured synchronization, link reliability, image quality and support for the selected sensor modules.
