Canon Details December 17 Firmware Plan for Four Cinema EOS Cameras

In a Nov. 4 announcement, Canon scheduled free firmware for the EOS C400, C80, C50 and R5 C for Dec. 17, 2026. The planned Multi Matrix controls would let C400, C80 and C50 users adjust hue and saturation across selectable 16- or 32-axis color regions. C400/C80 autofocus support would expand to 72, 75, 90 and 96 fps slow/fast recording modes. Features differ by camera; the firmware is not yet available.

GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF

Why it matters

Analysis: Color controls and high-frame-rate autofocus may help mixed-camera productions, but crews should test matching, monitoring and focus behavior on the exact camera and firmware version after release.
