MicroVision Says MOVIA Pro Short-Range LiDAR Has Entered Commercial Production

In an Oct. 22 release, MicroVision said it had begun commercial production of its MOVIA Pro short-range lidar and was shipping sensors to meet customer demand. The device combines multi-echo sensing with onboard processing that can run perception software on the sensor. The company identifies industrial robotics, intelligent infrastructure and other autonomous applications; it did not disclose shipment volume or a named vehicle program.

GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF

Why it matters

Analysis: Integrating point-cloud processing into a production sensor may simplify evaluation of edge-perception architectures. Buyers still need application-specific evidence for detection performance, environmental robustness, interface latency and sustained supply; the announcement alone does not establish those results.
