Morphotonics closes over EUR40 million Series B for waveguide manufacturing

On September 22, Morphotonics said it closed a Series B of more than EUR40 million to expand large-area nanoimprint platforms for AR waveguides, AI glasses and other photonic components.

GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF

Why it matters

Scaling repeatable micro- and nanostructure replication is a manufacturing bottleneck for display waveguides. The financing supports capacity and engineering expansion, but mass-production results remain to be proven.

Full perspective

The Dutch company said the proceeds will support its Cypris platform, product development and supplier network. The European Investment Bank separately confirmed a EUR20 million convertible loan as part of the financing.

Manufacturing significance

For waveguide buyers, the question is not only optical efficiency in a laboratory sample but uniformity, defect rate and cost across production-sized substrates. Morphotonics says it is building a lab-to-fab partner network to test processes before customers invest in their own lines.
