Optikos acquires Omega Optical, combining optics and coatings workflows
Optikos said on September 29 that it has acquired Omega Optical. The combined portfolio spans optical design, fabrication, thin-film coatings, filters, gratings, infrared optics and metrology. Optikos says existing customer contacts, contracts and product roadmaps will continue unchanged during the transition.
GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF
Why it matters
Analysis: bringing design, coating and measurement under one owner could simplify supplier coordination for complex optics, but customers should verify actual process transfer, qualification and delivery commitments during integration.
Full perspective
Both companies were already in the Artemis portfolio, according to Optikos. The release describes a completed acquisition and names David Cooper as chief executive of the new organization. It does not quantify manufacturing capacity gains or certify that every legacy process has already been integrated.
What optical buyers should check
Projects involving custom filters or infrared assemblies should ask how design revisions, coating runs and final metrology will be traced across sites. Confirm whether existing specifications, approved materials, quality documents and engineering contacts remain valid for each open order. A broader corporate portfolio is useful only when the promised engineering handoffs work on real customer programs.
