Ramona Optics raises $25 million for parallel microscopy

Ramona Optics said on September 22 that it raised a $25 million Series A led by ARCH Venture Partners. Its multi-camera array microscope uses 24 cameras to observe biological samples across a wide field at cellular resolution.

GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF

Why it matters

The funding supports commercialization of parallel, time-resolved imaging for life-science laboratories; the claimed acquisition throughput is the company's own specification, not an independent benchmark.

Full perspective

Ramona says its system captures multiple parts of a sample plate simultaneously, addressing the trade-off between viewing area, resolution and observation frequency in conventional scanning microscopes.

Industrial signal

The investment points to growing demand for complete time-series image datasets in drug discovery and cell studies. For optics and camera suppliers, parallel architectures also shift system design toward camera-array calibration, illumination consistency and data handling.
