TrUDI Three-Photon Platform Images Mouse Neural Activity 2.1 mm Deep
Rockefeller University reported Oct. 28 that its TrUDI platform combines changes to laser pulse generation, delivery, scanning and focusing for three-photon microscopy. In mice, the team recorded neuronal activity at tissue depths up to 2.1 mm without removing the overlying cortex. It reports roughly 250-fold higher fluorescence-generation efficiency under its test configuration; this is not a human imaging or clinical safety result.
GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF
Why it matters
Analysis: More efficient fluorescence generation can extend noninvasive access to deep mouse-brain circuits while limiting thermal load. Reproducibility across biological preparations, field of view and imaging speed will determine research adoption.
