Sigma Details FP2 Full-Frame Camera with 6K Open-Gate Recording
In its Oct. 23 announcement, Sigma introduced the FP2 with a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor and separate stills and cinema interfaces. It lists 6K open-gate recording, ProRes RAW support, a tilting screen and 70 GB of internal storage, with release scheduled for Nov. 11. This Oct. 26 brief covers the already announced camera; it is not a same-day launch or an independent performance test.
GLOBAL IMAGING BRIEF
Why it matters
Analysis: Combining full-frame open-gate capture and a compact modular body gives small crews another hybrid-camera option. The sensor readout, workflow and endurance should be judged with production units; Sigma notes that specifications may change.
